Susan Egan has represented employers for more than 30 years. She has advised them on implementing human resources programs; trained supervisors on compliance issues; helped work out problems with employees; and represented clients in actions charging them with non-compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, the New York State Labor Laws, and other statutes protecting employees. Over time, she has also represented employers in litigations charging nearly every kind of discrimination, including sex, race, age, disability, and pregnancy. Much of this experience has been with hostile work environment and harassment claims.
Attorney Egan also has extensive experience representing both employers and employees in disputes over employment and severance agreements and non-compete and confidentiality clauses. She has also written employment and severance agreements, which have not given rise to litigation.
Over the course of her career, attorney Egan has represented both large and small employers. Some of the larger employers include IBMTM, American ExpressTM, Western UnionTM, Bank of AmericaTM, FleetTM, and many other banks and financial institutions. The smaller employers include retailers in actions brought forward by the handicapped for ADA violations, doctors, venture capital investors, real estate brokers, managing agents, and restaurants dealing with Fair Labor Standards Act litigation, among others.
Before attorney Egan founded Egan Law Firm, she was a partner at Edwards & Angell, which recently merged with Locke Lord to become Locke Lord Edwards. She was there for 15 years, and managed Edwards & Angell’s New York Office and sat on the Firm’s Executive Committee. Attorney Egan began her legal career at Winthrop Stimson Putnam & Roberts, now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.
