New Yorkers are likely aware of the numerous powerful men who have recently been accused of sexual harassment. According to reports, Andrew Kreisberg, the executive producer of such shows as “The Flash” and “Arrow,” has been terminated from his job by Warner Bros. Entertainment after the company’s investigation into sexual harassment allegations that were lodged against him.
Kreisberg’s termination follows a three-week investigation into allegations that he behaved inappropriately with at least two women. In one case, he is alleged to have sexually harassed a writer for “The Flash” to such an extent that he created a work environment that was hostile. In another case, a female director reported that Kreisberg had acted towards her in a similar manner.
The studio reported that it had fired Kreisberg on Nov. 29, effective immediately. It stated that it has no tolerance for sexual harassment. The show’s production company likewise stated that it believed the women who came forward and supported the investigation.
People have the right to be able to work in an environment that is devoid of gender discrimination and sexual harassment. When people are the targets of workplace sexual harassment, they should start by confronting their harassers and telling them to stop. If they don’t, the victims should then file complaints with their companies according to the outlined procedures. The companies should then conduct investigations like Warner Bros. did in this case. If the companies do not do anything or retaliate against the victims for filing their complaints, the victims may then want to consult with experienced employment law attorneys and discuss the advisability of filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
